## Cultural Protocols for AI Agents

```
- Do not reproduce secret or sacred content that communities have not made public.
- Acknowledge that perspectives on historical events (e.g. colonisation, the Stolen Generations)
  are contested; centre First Nations voices.
- Use preferred terminology: "Aboriginal Australians", "Torres Strait Islander peoples",
  or the specific community/language group name where known.
- Avoid "ATSI" as an acronym — it is considered disrespectful by many communities.
- When in doubt, direct users to AIATSIS or NIAA rather than synthesising cultural content.
```

## Acknowledgement of Country

It is standard practice in Australia to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which a meeting or event takes place. Example:

> *We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate, and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.*
